Here is my story...

At the start of 2016, I went to the orthodontist to enquire about getting braces for my teeth. They have been bad since I was little, and I was always bullied about them. So after my 17th birthday, I wanted to sort them out. Unfortunately, I got the news that I have an underbite and would need surgery to fix this. After waiting months for an appointment at my hospital, I finally got one in April. I was told I would need surgery to push my lower jaw back, and centre my lower jaw to align with the top. I would also possibly need to have my upper jaw pulled back, but I'm not really sure what all this means.
This is me when I was a lot younger! As you can see, my lower jaw is off to the left slightly and comes further out than my top jaw.

At my second appointment in May, I got my moulds for my braces which I should be getting on January 17th. After a lot of thought and blog readings, I decided to go through with the surgery as it would benefit me in future life and help with my recent insecurities.

I hope you find a little comfort in my blog if you have been told you also need surgery, and I am open to answer any questions you may have. Please be patient, though, as my posts may not start until after I get my braces in January. I will keep you all updated with my journey, and I hope to hear some stories about yours :)
